Air Hockey

Air Hockey is the 50th and final Expert stage in Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, as well as the 99th Expert stage in Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and the 209th Ultimate stage with continues (249th without continues) and the 110th Marathon stage of Super Monkey Ball 2 in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.

In Story Mode, it appears as World 9-10 in Super Monkey Ball 2 and as World 9-17 in Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. It is given a 10 out of 10 difficulty rating.

Description[]

There are four walls that hit the cube with the goal inside it. The walls move on the dark lines of the stage.

Goal Tutorial[]

On the platform, get to the path where the cube is moving, but be careful when trying to reach the goal as you can often get knocked out instead of reaching it.

Normal Strategy[]

Chase the goal. And whenever you think it will pass you somewhere, just stand still in that place and the goal will knock into you.

Shortcut[]

With pause buffering, this stage is easier to clear than it would be normally. As soon as the level starts, hold up on the control stick. Keep going with the direction held, and release the stick in neutral position at the exact frame you touch the main platform, which is between 59:35 to 59:37.

Changes in Banana Mania[]

The goal is now no longer rotated sideways. Additionally, it moves much more slowly. As a result, waiting for the goal to pass a certain point is no longer practical, but the goal can be chased down more easily. There are slightly more bananas in the Story Mode version.

Oddly, in Story Mode and Original Stage Mode, the parts of the stage that the strikers move along are now slightly raised, creating 2 small bumps around the perimeters of the strikers' paths. This is not the case in Challenge Mode.

Trivia[]

Unusually, the Challenge Mode version of this stage in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania contains no bananas on the starting platform and only features the legacy bananas from Super Monkey Ball 2's version. It's possible this version of the stage was overlooked when adding bananas to the starting platforms.
