Inside a Whale (きょだいクジラのおなか Giant Whale's Stomach) is the 4th world in Super Monkey Ball 2, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.

Description

This world takes place inside the bowels of a seemingly gargantuan whale that has swallowed entire cities. The inside of the whale looks rather hollow for an alive creature, as only its skin, teeth and ribcage are visible. Caged houses are hanging from the ceiling and rope bridges are connected between the ribs. Whenever the whale opens its mouth, more daylight is let through and a wave of water rushes inwards.

Story Mode

Inside a Whale is the 4th world of Story Mode. Despite being in the first half the game, its sudden spike in overall difficulty gives it a late-game feel.

Plot

The monkeys and Dr. Bad-Boon inside the whale.

AiAi and friends have made it out of the ocean, but so has Dr. Bad-Boon. While the two groups argue, Bad-Boon tells AiAi and friends to look behind them. AiAi isn't falling for it, but he's telling the truth. AiAi looks behind him, seeing the giant whale's mouth open, and then they all get swallowed up. Bad-Boon thinks it isn't so bad since he will be staying with MeeMee. MeeMee, however, is still unimpressed.

Trivia

• The background for this world has two different versions; one is used in Story Mode, the other in Challenge Mode. In Challenge Mode, the outside sky can be seen through the whale's blowhole and whenever it opens its mouth, while in Story Mode a thick dark fog prevents you from seeing it.
  • In Deluxe's Story Mode, the stages from Super Monkey Ball 2 still have the dark fog blocking the sky, while the non-SMB2 stages do not. On those stages, the outside is visible.
  • In Banana Mania, the outside is always visible.
• Inside a Whale is one of two worlds that is not used as a background in any Party Game. The other is Bubbly Washing Machine.
• The original music used in Super Monkey Ball 2 was not used in Banana Mania. The new song used is an original composition.
