Monkey Boat is a Party Game in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. The game involves racing around on 3 courses in boats, using items to gain an edge.

Gameplay

Monkeys race around 3 aquatic courses in boats, by paddling either on the left, the right, or both sides. Holding the paddle left button will cause the monkey to keep paddling on the right side to turn left, holding the paddle right button will cause the monkey to keep paddling on the left side and turn right, and holding both will cause the monkey to alternate paddling on the left and right. Items will appear on the course, which can be used to give the user a boost, or sabotage opponents. When played single player, there is a time limit that will disqualify the player when it runs out, but completing a lap or crossing a checkpoint adds to the timer. There are 3 game modes:

In One Course Race, a single race on a single course takes place. The number of laps can be selected by the player.

In Grand Prix, 3 races take place, one on each course, and points are scored based on placement in each race, with the racer with the highest score after 3 races being the winner.

In Time Attack, a single player races around a course against the clock, to try and complete a number of laps as quickly as possible. Only the Monkey Submarine item can spawn in this mode, and the player starts with 3 submarines loaded.

Settings

• Number of Laps (One Course Race only) - the number of laps raced on the selected course. Not available for Water Dragon Route.
• Assist - toggles a rubberbanding mechanic, where players in a lower placement gain a speed boost.
• Items - whether or not items will appear during races.

Controls

Nintendo Switch and Xbox One & Series X/S version:

• R button - Paddle right
• L button - Paddle left
• A button - Use the currently loaded item
• B button - Change the currently loaded item
• X button - Switch to a reverse camera

PlayStation 4 and 5 version:

• R button - Paddle right
• L button - Paddle left
• X button - Use the currently loaded item
• Circle button - Change the currently loaded item
• Square button - Switch to a reverse camera

Windows version:

• D Key - Paddle right
• A Key - Paddle left
• Vertical Right Square Bracket Key - Use the currently loaded item
• J Key - Change the currently loaded item
• K Key - Switch to a reverse camera

Items

• Piranha Torpedo - If it hits an opponent, it capsizes them, temporarily stunning them.
• Whale Bomb - If it hits an opponent, it traps them in a pillar of water for a few seconds.
• Whirling Swirl - Creates a temporary whirlpool where it lands, pulling in opponents.
• Monkey Submarine - Converts the user into a submarine, that allows them to move around underwater at high speed.
